Tought My First BJJ Class

This post is a little late, but wanted to get it out there since its about teaching my first BJJ class this Wed. While Marcelo is enjoying the bitter cold in Colorado, I took over and thought I’d teach a few of my favorite guards. We started off with a version of the spider guard. Also, I taught how to break the guard, which is now seeming like a bad idea, since I used to enjoy the confusion on everyone’s faces. We then moved in on what’s probably my favorite way to start any match, the X-Guard. It’s a great guard that gives you a lot of control over your competitor.
